Pearson Airport in Mississauga is getting slammed for bad service over a video circulating on social media but they say the incident doesn’t involve their employee.

The video shows a group of weary travellers gathered near empty baggage carousels speaking to a man in a reflective vest. The man reportedly told people that, after an hour wait, they won’t get their luggage until the next day.

One of the travellers says: “You better call your boss.”

“I am not calling my boss,” the man hurls back. “You’re not happy, I’m going.”

He then turns to leave as people shout for their luggage.

“I am telling you what the situation is,” he says, waving his arms.

He turns back once more to say: “Personally, I would never fly Lynx.”

Many people commenting on social media blame the issue on Pearson Airport.

“I will never fly into Pearson with checked baggage. Flying to and from Detroit is so much better,” one person wrote.

“Pearson Toronto YYZ is garbage,” another says.

But the man featured in the video is not a Greater Toronto Airports Authority staff member, a spokesperson tells insauga.com.

Baggage handers are employed by the airlines, not the GTAA.

And Lynx Air released a statement late on Aug. 1.

“Lynx Air strives to provide a great flying experience at all times,” Merren McArthur, president and CEO of Lynx Air said in an emailed statement.

“We are disappointed to hear about the negative comments made by an employee of our contracted ground handling company. Lynx Air would like to sincerely apologize to the impacted passengers. We are investigating this incident with our contracted ground handling company and have been advised that they are taking appropriate action in respect to this incident.”

Editors note: This story was updated on Aug. 2 to add the comment from Lynx Air.
